Storbor — Storbor Guarantee Terms
Storbor Inc. · Version 2.0 · Effective: June 12, 2026 · Last updated: 2026-07-02
1. What the Storbor Guarantee is — and is not
The Storbor Guarantee is a discretionary, Storbor-funded benefit that helps make a Renter whole for certain physical loss or damage to eligible stored items while in a Custodian's care. It is NOT insurance, not a warranty, and does not create an insurer/insured relationship. It is provided by Storbor Inc. in its discretion to promote a trusted marketplace, and it does not replace your own insurance. It applies only in excess of any other protection available to you (including your own contents/renter's or homeowner's insurance), which you must claim first.
2. Tiers — a free baseline plus optional upgrades
- Included (free): every booking automatically includes the Guarantee up to CAD $1,000.
- Plus / Premium (optional service upgrade): a Renter may raise the cap (e.g., to $2,500 or $5,000) for a small flat service fee chosen at checkout. This fee is a service upgrade, not a risk-priced premium. Above the top cap, we recommend arranging your own insurance. The applicable cap is the one shown and selected on your booking.
3. What it may help with
Subject to these Terms, the Guarantee may reimburse a Renter for direct physical loss or damage to eligible, accurately declared stored items caused by theft from the space, fire, or water damage during the booking period, up to the selected cap.
4. Amount
Reimbursement is the lesser of the item's actual cash (depreciated) value or the selected cap, less a deductible of CAD $[100–250, TBD], up to 90% of the eligible loss, with a per-item sub-limit of CAD $500 unless a higher value for that item was declared and accepted.
5. What it does not cover (exclusions)
- Items not accurately declared at booking, or value above your selected cap.
- Prohibited items (see Acceptable Use & Prohibited Items) and high-value items such as cash, securities, jewellery, precious metals/stones, collectibles, art, and irreplaceable/one-of-a-kind items, except as expressly stated.
- Ordinary wear, gradual deterioration, mould, pests/vermin, mysterious disappearance, flood/groundwater, earthquake, war/nuclear, consequential/indirect losses, and loss of data.
- Damage from the Renter's own acts, improper packing, or failure to follow the space's rules.
- Loss outside the booking period, or items in transit except as covered under the Pickup & Return Service Terms.
6. Conditions and Renter duties
To be eligible you must: have an active, paid booking; have accurately declared your items (and value); have documented condition with the drop-off, weekly check-up, and pick-up photos; claim your own insurer first; report the loss within 72 hours and file a claim within 14 days, with supporting documents within 30 days; provide proof of ownership/value; cooperate with our review; and, for theft, file a police report. Missing photos may reduce or void a claim.
7. How to claim
Submit to claims@storbor.com with your booking reference, a description of the loss, the drop-off/check-up/pick-up photos, proof of value, and (for theft) the police report number. Storbor targets a decision within ~14 days and may approve, partially approve, or deny in its sole reasonable discretion.
8. Subrogation and no double recovery
If you are reimbursed, you assign to Storbor your rights to recover from any responsible party (including a negligent Custodian) up to the amount paid, and you may not recover for the same loss from both the Guarantee and another source.
9. Relationship to Custodian liability
The Custodian holds your goods as a bailee and may be independently responsible for loss or damage. The Guarantee does not determine fault between Renter and Custodian, does not waive either party's rights, and is separate from any claim you may have against the Custodian directly.
10. Changes and discretion
Storbor may modify or discontinue the Guarantee prospectively. Individual decisions are made in Storbor's reasonable discretion under these Terms and applicable law. Nothing here limits non-waivable rights under Ontario or Canadian consumer-protection law.
